Introduction to Natural Health

This class is for those who are curious about natural health care – who may have heard about homeopathy, essential oils, herbs, etc., and have not had any practical experience with them yet.  The objective is to share information regarding the various modalities available today when taking responsibility for one’s own health.  Basics of home first aid using natural health care will be covered.

Introduction to Natural Health - Part II is also available, as the topic promotes more discussion opportunities.

Natural First Aid

This class is covers the basics of using herbs, homeopathy, essential oils and other home remedies for those first aid situations that commonly occur at home.

Natural Health Care for Pets

Discussion includes alternative/holistic/integrative and preventative methods of maintaining optimal health for those special family members who cannot speak for themselves.  Some of the methods covered are: homeopathy, herbs, nutrition, aromatherapy, Reiki, flower essences and more.  Community resources and recommended reading lists will be provided.

Nutrition Basics for Teens

Geared toward the younger crowd, we include basic information about real foods vs. fake foods and  how the digestive system is affected by fast food vs. whole foods.  I encourage lively discussion and ownership of the responsibility for one’s health.  Hands on activities and resource information is provided.

Letting Go of Weight - Naturally

The class will cover:

- Using natural methods, including becoming aware of nutrition and our own “self talk”, to become fit and trim.

- Common self-sabotaging behavior and how to change it.

- A jump-start hypnosis session to bring about changes in attitude and behavior with regards to food and exercise.

Stress Control Through Hypnosis

This is an introduction to the use of hypnosis for reducing stress.  Information is provided covering what hypnosis/hypnotherapy is and what it is no – along with information regarding self-hypnosis at home.  We’ll do an in depth hypnosis session, providing suggestions in letting go of stress, allowing relief and respite for the adrenal glands to have time to recharge.  Also included are affirmations and techniques to reduce stress and provide an easier flow into hypnosis.

The hypnosis session can be done with participants sitting in chairs, or laying on mats if the environment permits.  I suggest a maximum of 15 participants seated or 10 laying on mats.

Are You Sick & Tired of Being Sick & Tired?

This is a class to share information and encouragement on the natural/alternative ways we can take responsibility for our own health care.  Much is audience directed, depending on the concerns of those in attendance.  Topics covered include: “fake” foods and how to spot them, functions of medications and alternative remedies, core causes of disease and what to do about them.

The target audience for this class is those unsatisfied with their current condition of health.

Homeopathy and Herbs - What’s the Difference?

This class is an introduction to natural health care using homeopathy and herbs.

Many times the two different modalities are confused.  We’ll discuss the differences, and the basics of how to use them.

Natural Health for the Cold & Flu Season

We’ll discuss the many ways of preventing, and shortening the severity and duration of typical seasonal health distresses, using herbs, homeopathy, essential oils and nutritional supplements.

Basic Aromatherapy

The objective of this class is to share information regarding the safe use of essential oils for household use and for physical and emotional health and well being.  A wide variety of essential oils will be on hand to view/smell.  Oils will be diffused in the room.  Safety information, as well as suggested uses will be provided.  Information for, and samples of lemon, peppermint lavender oils can be provided for each participant to take home.   Fresh water with therapeutic-grade lemon oil will be on hand for drinking.

Green Living with Essential Oils

We’ll discuss using pure, therapeutic-grade essential oils as alternatives to:  toxic household cleaners, pet care products, insect repellents, pharmaceuticals and more.  Typical use of these items often result in pouring toxins into our ground and water systems.  We’ll cover safer, more natural options that will build the health of our bodies and planet instead of breaking them down.

Twelve Oils of Ancient Scripture

We’ll briefly discuss basics of aromatherapy, and then delve more deeply into the specific benefits of these ancient oils when used in modern times to support our bodies in mind and spirit.  I’ll present twelve significant oils of scripture, from spikenard (John 12:3) to “the rose of Sharon” (Song of Solomon 2:1).  Also included are the refreshing scents of myrtle and cedarwood, the pungent aroma of galbanum, and the rich fragrances of frankincense and myrrh to savor and enjoy.

Introduction to Reiki

This class answers the question – What exactly Is Reiki?  We’ll cover the very basic description, history, and uses of Reiki – touching on Chakras, what one might expect during a Reiki session and using Reiki for self-healing, clearing spaces, uses with pets and distance healing.

Self-care for the Caregiver

This is a class to share information and techniques for care givers to support themselves in body, mind and spirit.  Caregivers can be parents of small children, adult children caring for their parents or spouses caring for an ailing partner.  So often, the focus is on the one receiving the care – the patient, yet to adequately care for another, we must take care of ourselves.  Techniques will be shared to support ourselves nutritionally, reduce the effects of the stress that may seem inescapable, and bring more joy into the situation at hand.  I’ll share information regarding community resources/practitioners, recommended reading and affirmations to post at home.

Depending on time – we may include hypnosis, meditation, use of essential oils, hands on acupressure point tapping and breath work.

The Power of Words on Body, Mind and Spirit

For those interested in increasing awareness and improving life situations,

This class provides a look at the powerful effect of the words we use everyday. Suggestions and techniques for changing the words we use in speaking and thinking to promote better health of the body, ease emotional tension and bring more control over the life we’re creating.

I look forward to sharing information and experience on these topics of holistic health.
